SL9000 LED Energy Saving Modes
The demonstration highlights the different modes available in both LED and LCD TV’s and the power savings that are available.
Watch the YouTube video from the LG Blogger Event highlighting the power modes of three LG TV’s using different technologies, the SL 9000 LED Backlit TV, the SL8000 LCD TV and a plasma TV.
LED technology has obvious power advantages whilst not sacrificing picture quality and functionality. The location of the TV effects the mode required. In a bright room such as a conservatory, vivid mode is required but when using the TV to provide audio such as satellite or cable radio then the video/mute mode can be used. The mode setting is also depending on the type of content being shown.
The TV’s have LG’s Intelligent Sensor built in so that you do not have to keep pressing the green button (ironically!) to change the mode and save power.
A summary of the power draw that is demonstrated is below :
| SL8000 LED | SL9000 LCD | Plasma | |
| Vivid | 145w | 220w | 326w |
| Minimum | 110w | 165w | sub 300w |
| Medium | 85w | 120w | 215w |
| Maximum | 50w | 68w | |
| Video Mute | 30w | 28w | 140w |
Depending on the amount of TV you watch then LED technology has obvious power savings.
